**What is this BDSM glossary for?**

This glossary gives short, non-explicit definitions for BDSM, D/s, kink, role, relationship and community terms. It is an entity guide, not a collection of competing mini-articles. When a term has a dedicated Grey Side page, the definition points to that canonical owner for context, consent and nuance. Community vocabulary varies: labels such as brat, handler, high protocol or service submissive describe possible styles, not scientific categories or automatic permissions. A title never creates authority over a stranger, and ownership language never removes an adult’s autonomy. If a word gives a shape to something you have quietly wanted, follow it. You are not required to adopt the label simply because it fits one part of you.

You do not have to learn the whole language before you are allowed to understand yourself. One useful word is enough for tonight.

Follow the terms that help you describe your own desire, and leave the rest. You can return when your questions change; this is a reference for you, not a vocabulary test you have to pass.
